Today was our biggest delivery of food to the pantry ever–450 pounds of fresh food!!!!! Much of it was the sweet corn that one of our new volunteers collected from a farmer at the end of his day for $1/dozen. She got 30 dozen (that’s right 360 ears) of silver queen. Carl did the delivery this week as he nearly always does and in his words, “When we brought in the sweet corn, someone took one look at it and shouted, “Look at that sweet corn, praise the lord!” Sabra [the director of the pantry] was very happy.”
Marcia’s confession: I really did think I would keep up with this blog better than I have. And I’d like to say that I will do better in the future, but I won’t say that. I will try however. Fact is, I like working outside better than I like sitting at a computer. I also would like for people to be able to keep up with everything. The latest email I sent to everyone in the group brought you up to date. Let me know if you didn’t get that, we are up to cool things this month.
And I really would like someone to be our liason at the pantry. We drop off on Tuesday but the food is handed out on Wed. Wouldn’t someone like to be there to talk to the folks and see how we can work together in a better way?
